The Academy Awards.

For our film society, we hosted the awards show in our editing lab, which actually worked out perfectly. There was popcorn and sparkling cider and all was good.

My thoughts:

Octavia Spencer-Yes, thank goodness. I thought she deserved to win. Even though I would have LOVED to see Melissa win, I had a feeling they would go in a different direction. Octavia had the comedic and dramatic elements. And her speech was emotional which was sweet. 

Jean Dugardin-My new love. Even though I haven’t seen the Artist, I think this win was good. I really hadn’t seen most of the lead actor films, which was hard. 

Meryl Streep-Before she went on stage to accept, I pulled out my impression (mostly from Kristen Wiig’s) and it was pretty on point. 

The Artist- I knew from the beginning that based on the other shows this would win. 

Hugo-Wow, it killed on the other awards. Too bad it didn’t win the major ones.
